It is important to customize your IDE and/or text editor by your preference. I personally prefer dark backgrounds as I find them easier on my eyes. This is a theme for Visual Studio 2013 that I think is optimum in this regard. It is essentially an edited version of Solarized Blue where you have the interface of Visual Studio in Solarized Blue with a darker, blacker text editor. Download it here.
You will need the ‘customize colors’ extension/plug-in to import this into your software. You can get it from the msdn site here. After installing the extension, go to Tools > Customize Colors. From there you will see an option for importing a theme.
Visual Studio is a great IDE for developing in Windows environment. You can download and try it from here if don’t have it already.
